RN Occupational Health Nurse (3288)

CHS Health Services currently has a per diem RN Occupational Health Nurse position available to work in 2 clinics in the Winston-Salem/Tobaccoville, NC area. This position will fill in for full time staff vacations, sick days or other events that are happening at the clinic. This position will work 2nd and 3rd shifts from 4pm to Midnight and Midnight to 8am.

SCOPE:

Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional duties involved in developing and delivering Primary Care and Occupational Health nursing for client on-site health services. Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating health maintenance and health education programs. Reports to the Account Manager.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree in nursing preferred and current licensure as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina required. Three years of clinical nursing experience required. Experience in Occupational Health nursing, hospital emergency service, Public Health Nursing, urgent care, or any combination of the above is required. COHN certification preferred. Audio and Pulmonary Function certifications are a plus. Must have the ability to make independent nursing judgments and decisions. Must be proficient with basic Microsoft Outlook and have good knowledge and technical skills of Word and Excel. American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Electronic Medical Record experience is required and knowledge of NextGen and MedGate systems is a plus.

DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:

Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with the provider and other clinic staff; providing physical and psychological support for patients.
Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals; teaching and counseling patients, reinforcing their understanding of disease, medications, and self-care skills; and answering questions.
Provides direct care, including: assessment, episodic, triage and initial treatment, and referral to a higher level of care when indicated (outside providers, EAP, etc.), treating occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, using approved CHS Health Services, Inc. nursing protocols/medical directives and assists with Workers Compensation and/or OSHA recording.
Provides clinical care to include:
Response to emergencies in and outside of clinic.
Administration of allergy injections per CHS Health Services protocols.
Administration of travel vaccines and education/counseling.
Phlebotomy, Drug Screen collections, Spirometry, Audiograms, EKGs, and vision screens.
CLIA waived testing.
Ear examination with possible irrigation.
Administration of prescribed and OTC medications.
Assists with the administration of health and wellness initiatives, including group and individual health education activities.
Open and Close clinic as needed.
Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following standards of care set by North Carolina Board of Nursing; State Nurse Practice Act, AAOHN and other governing agency regulations.
Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Maintains complete and accurate records on the patient, regarding health history and any care given in compliance with HIPPA. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Ensures operation of medical and administrative equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level along with the Medical Assistant; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Maintains health resource materials, such as books, pamphlets, DVDs by reviewing and recommending new materials.
Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests; building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods.
Assists Medical Assistant/Administrative Assistant as needed.
Maintains Daily, CLIA, and Equipment logs.

OTHER DUTIES:
Performs duties in a safe manner following the corporate safety policies. Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies close calls and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, JCAHO, AAAHC, and other mandated regulations/standards.
May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
